Soprano Sooyeon LEE 소프라노 이수연

 

On the stage of in Wales in 2019, Coloratura Soprano Sooyeon Lee made herself present as the final soprano in the main prize as well as in the song prize. Returning back to Germany for season 19/20, she will make a debut of Amina of La Sonnambula and perform again her recognized role of Lucia, along with other roles.

 

After having won the 2nd prize and audience prize at the 2015 ARD international music competition in Germany, the south Korean soprano began to receive attention from Europe. Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Gilda (Rigoletto), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Amina (La Sonnambula), Marie (La Fille du Regiment) have been her main roles among others on the stage of Oldenburg Theater in Germany, where she has been a member of Ensemble since the season 16/17.

 

In the upcoming seasons, she will make Musikverein debut in the Golden Hall in the December 2019 in a series of New Years Concerts with the Tonkünstler Orchestra conducted by Alfred Eschwé. Also, she will make a solo debut at Wigmore hall in London in October 2020 as a recital of Cardiff singer song prize finalist.

 

She graduated with distinction from the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, where she obtained a Masters degree in opera by KS Edith Lienbacher, and she graduated postgraduate degrees in Vocal, Lied and Oratorio by KS Gabriele Fontana.

 

Besides the prizes at the 2015 ARD international music competition, she has won numerous other competitions as a young soprano, including Operalia competition, the Gian Battista Viotti Competition,  Pavarotti Giovani Awards, Beaumarchais International Music Competition in Vienna and the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg.

 

She had a solo concert with Helmut Deutsch in India and sang as a Keumho young Artist in Korea, and Frauen Kirche in Dresden. Also she sang at the Vienna Musikverein, MuTh, Berlin Philharmonic, Dubai Opera house. She joined Cully Classique festival, SWR festival , Rheingau festival, and Schwarzwald Festival. At the university, she played as Adele in J. Strauß’ operetta Die Fledermaus at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn.

Flutist Yeojin HAN 플루티스트 한여진

 

YEOJIN HAN, flute, born in 2001 in Bucheon, South Korea, began her bachelor's degree at the Korea National University of Arts in 2016 (selected as the youngest student with top performance, full scholarship). Since 2018 she has been studying at the University of Music and Theater Munich with Professor Andrea Lieberknecht.

 

She is a prizewinner in numerous competitions: 3rd prize and audience award in the 9th International Flute Competition in Kobe/Japan, as the youngest prizewinner in the history of the competition (2017/15 years old). 1st prize in the International Flute Competition "Rising Stars" in Berlin (2016). 4th prize, special prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work and special prize for the youngest participant in the 3rd International Flute Competition "Maxence Larrieu" in Nice (2015/14 years old). Special Prize (recognition of the jury for the excellent performance) in the 5th International Music Competition "Carl Nielsen" in Odense/Denmark (2014). 1st Prize and Audience Prize in the 18th International Flute Competition Biwako/Japan (the youngest prize winner, 2013, 11 years old). 

 

She gained chamber music experience in the duo with harp "PIDA", as well as as a guest of the Villa Musica Foundation in Germany (chamber concert tour as part of the Villa Musica to Prague/Czech Republic, Vivaldi concert in Schloss Engers/Germany).

 

As a soloist she has performed with the Korean Symphony Orchestra, Wuhan Philhamonic Orchestra (China), orchestras from Takamatsu, Matsue and Hiroshima/Japan and several orchestras in Korea and Japan. She has made concert tours in Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima) and also several solo/recital concerts in Korea.

 

Since 2017 she has been a Powell Flute Artist in the USA and since 2023 she has been playing as principal flutist in the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. 

Pianist Hyogeon SHIN 피아니스트 신효건

  

Born in 1990 in South Korea, Shin Hyo-Geon graduated from Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and Seoul National University College of Music with excellent grades.

 

Hyo-Geon attended Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in 2009, and studied under Professor Henri Barda. He graduated with honors from ‘le Diplôme Supérieure Concertiste’ in 2013 and from ‘le Diplôme Supérieure d’Exécution’ in 2011 with unanimous judges. After that, Hyo-Geon entered Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, studying under Professor Olivier Gardon. He graduated from ‘le Diplôme Concertiste’ with unanimous judges in 2014. He has now returned to South Korea and completed a Ph.D. program at Seoul National University.

 

Hyo-Geon has been awarded prizes from various international competitions. :

Epinal International Piano Competition (Semi Finalist, 2015), FLAME Competition (2nd prize, 2013), Claude Kahn Competition (3rd prize, 2013), Ehwa and Kyung-Hyang Competition (1er prize, 2005), Oberlin International Piano Competition (4th prize, 2004).

 

He had a recital at la Salle Munch, I’Espace Bernanos and he has played at la Salle Gaveau, Salle Cortot, in France. He played piano solo at the request of composer Jean-Louis Mansart (1954-), at the Cantus Formus concert of contemporary French composers. He played at the invitation of Airbus & Asiana in Toulouse, France, and toured the country under the theme of "For Horowitz" hosted by the Stomp Music Agency. He has played with Romanian National Radio Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Orchestra. He had a recital the Young Artist and Prodigy series at Kumho Art Hall in South Korea. In addition, he established himself by playing solo, concerted and piano trio at major domestic and international venues, including Pruis Hall, Centro Cultural de Los Christianos, Kiosque de la Pépinière, the Arts Center, Lotte Concert Hall, Youngsan Art Hall, and Mozart Hall.

 

In addition, Wiener Music Seminar International Master Class, Academy 'Y' Festival International de Music Arona, Niagara International Chamber Music Festival, Spain Tenerife International Music Festival, ARIA International Summer Festival & Academy, European Music Festival, Festival, Festival, Festival, Nice, Académies internationales d'été du Grand Nancy, etc He participated in and played in many music festivals and pioneered his own territory.

 

Pianist Shin Hyo-Geon, who studied Shin Soo-jung, Park Jong-hwa, Ahn Young-shin, Baek Hye-sun, Choi Seung-hye, Song Hye-won, Henri Barda, Jacques Rouvier, and Olivier Gardon, is currently completed a Ph.D. program at Seoul National University. He also continues his active performance as a member of the MAGE Production agency
