Since 2020, pianist Won-Young Kong has captivated audiences with her annual themed recital series. For 2026, her chosen theme is "Shape of Water." Water, lacking a fixed form, possesses the unique ability to embody any vessel. It serves as a tranquil source of life, yet at other times, it evokes a profound sense of awe for the vastness of nature.
This recital brings together a masterfully curated collection of works that project the "Shape of Water" onto the keyboard—ranging from the modern perspectives of Berio and Takemitsu to the timeless masterpieces of Liszt, Chopin, Debussy, and Ravel. Organized into sub-themes of Water, Fountains, Rain, the Ocean, and Barcarolles, this performance invites the audience to experience a world of transparent yet resilient vitality as the music flows, gathers, and swirls beneath the pianist's fingertips.
