Bach : the Chromatic Aura K’urius Piano Spectrum 2
at the upper-right of the page.Program Notes
K'urius was founded by six pianists who graduated from the Korea National
University of Arts (K'arts), School of Music, Piano Department. Over the past
20 years, they have been each other's closest colleagues and steadfast musical
partners, building deep trust while respecting the individuality and experience
each has cultivated on their own stages. Now active figures in the music world,
they bring together their longstanding friendship and musical rapport to create
richer, more diverse performances. When six distinct colors of musicianship
converge on a single stage, audiences will embark on a new musical journey that
transcends individual achievement.
For their second program, K'urius shines a spotlight on Bach through the
entirely different perspectives of two pianists. Though Bach's music is built
upon strict counterpoint and mathematical order, it holds within it infinite
room for interpretation. Pianists Lee Seon-mi and Lee Cheol-min each present
works drawn from Bach's vast repertoire through their own unique sensibilities.
One pianist's Bach is deep and reverent, while the other's is aristocratic yet
brilliantly inventive. Through two pianists, the singular world of Bach unfolds
in entirely different colors.
About K'urius
K'urius is a piano ensemble
founded by six pianists from the Korea National University of Arts, School of
Music, Piano Department — Park Su-jeong, Lee Seon-mi, Lee Seom-seung, Lee Seung-hye,
Lee Cheol-min, and Choi Hyun-ah. True to their name — a combination of K
(K'arts), uri (우리,
meaning "us"), and Curious — their mission is to explore new
possibilities within the piano repertoire. With a distinctive theme and concept
for each performance, they continue to expand the spectrum of piano music.
K'urius launched their debut concert at the Seoul Arts Center IBK Chamber Hall
in July 2026, with a total of three series concerts scheduled through September
