[Biography]
Dr. Yein Son is an active
violist and educator dedicated to bridging her performance career with music
education. She has appeared in distinguished orchestras and chamber ensembles
across both the United States and Korea, showcasing her passionate playing and
deep musical insight. She currently teaches orchestral repertoire, chamber
music, and viola at Kyung Hee University and serves as the string orchestra
conductor at Deokwon Arts High School.
Dr. Son's orchestral career
includes joining the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as a tenured member in
2022.She has also performed with numerous renowned ensembles, including the
Rachmaninoff International Orchestra under Mikhail Pletnev, the National
Symphony Orchestra of Korea, the KG Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gunpo Prime
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Syracuse Orchestra, the Albany Symphony, the
Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
As an avid chamber musician and
soloist, Dr. Son has appeared at major international festivals, including the
Emerson String Quartet Festival, the International Summer Academy at Mozarteum
University, the Heifetz Music Institute (on full scholarship), and the
Montecito International Music Festival (as a fellow and later a faculty
member), where she collaborated with prominent artists such as Lynn Harrell,
Sam Fischer, Régulo Martínez-Antón, Larry Livingston, and members of the
Emerson String Quartet. In the summer of 2022, she attended the Pacific Region
International Summer Music Association (PRISMA) Festival on a full scholarship,
serving as principal violist. During the festival, she won the concerto
competition and performed the first movement of Hindemith’s Viola Concerto with
the festival orchestra, receiving enthusiastic acclaim from Canadian audiences.
Dr. Son earned her Doctor of
Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University on a full scholarship. She also
holds a Master of Music degree from Yale University and a Bachelor of Music
degree from Kyung Hee University. Her principal teachers include Sung Hee Park,
Jin Won Yoon, Ettore Causa, Steven Tenenbom, Lawrence Dutton, and Matthew
Lipman.

The Inchoon Art Hall, which was completed on August 28, 2020, is a multi-purpose hall space located on the first basement floor of the music hall. It can be operated with a total of 100 seats, including 91 fixed seats and 7 mobile seats. In addition, Inchoon Art Hall has not only solo concerts, small concerts, but also video screenings, press conferences, competitions, etc. It can be used for various purposes.
