After Hours - Beyond the Goodness of Nature
at the upper-right of the page.We have long believed nature to be “good.”
A being that holds life, cycles through the seasons, and grants humans rest and sustenance. Yet this belief has remained deeply human-centered. Modern civilization assumed nature could be tamed, predicted, and controlled. We dammed rivers, erased the order of the stars with city lights, and tore into the land and forests in the name of cultivation and development. Throughout this process, nature seemed silent. Or so we believed. Now, nature is responding. A heating planet, vanishing species, a boiling atmosphere, retaliating viruses. Only in the face of these responses do we confront the truth: nature is neither good nor evil, but a being governed by its own inherent order. It transcends the morals and binaries humans have constructed— an autonomous, unpredictable life form. This body of work reexamines the distorted relationship between humans and nature: the balance we dismantled, the order we sought to impose, and the long stretches of time nature endured in silence. Within the work, nature does not appear as an object, but as existence itself. And that existence—sometimes quietly, sometimes violently—asks humanity in return: “Whom are you really protecting me from?” “Whose good is the ‘good’ you speak of?” This exhibition is an attempt to look at nature anew. Beyond moral judgments, beyond control and exploitation— to encounter nature as a subject in its own right. It is a visual exploration of emotion, collision, rupture, and the possibilities that exist between humans and nature.
Nature Beyond Good is an artistic experiment that sheds human illusion and searches for a new sensibility of coexistence.
