[Introducing the performance]
· Western Opera Reinterpreted as a Story of My Neighborhood: Korean version of the Potion of Love
The masterpiece of the Italian composer G. Donizetti's "Love Potion" is boldly moved to a rural village in Korea, and the story of our neighborhood unfolds in a friendly and pleasant way. Widely loved as an aria of "The Tears that flow secretly from others," the work is reinterpreted modernly in a friendly rural background that reminds people of "The Country Diary." Not just a crowd, but characters with individuality appear, and the performance of a simple young protagonist and a witty grandmother (vocal ensemble) delivers intimate laughter to the audience.
· It's fun like a musical, but the original charm of the opera remains the same
While providing musical-like friendliness with a variety of directing and dramatic fun, the opera's charm was maintained by adapting the original Italian lyrics in Korean. The comical acting of top vocalists, delicate emotional expression, and humorous directing are combined to create a new type of opera appreciation experience that can be enjoyed by any local audience.
· Opera for Anyone Who Breaks the Wall of Language: Original speech bubble subtitles projected on the cloud of stage equipment and Korean lyrics that are familiar to the ears and eyes
The cloud-shaped speech bubble subtitles in the stage equipment are original devices that have been highly praised for enhancing audience understanding and immersion in the existing performances. In this performance, the performance goes one step further with Korean adaptation lyrics to convey the story and emotional line more intuitively. It will be an open opera that invites more audiences to enjoy comfortably with both ears and eyes.
This work was premiered in 2015 at the Free Small Theater of the Seoul Arts Center and was invited to the Uijeongbu Music and Drama Festival the following year. (
The work received praise from Yonhap News and monthly guests such as "both audience empathy and artistry," "faithfully carrying the musical effects of the original opera," "It seems that the set of the drama "The Country Diary" has been transferred intact," "It's a waste to end with two performances," and "It's a luxury acting that's perfect for a comedian play."
This work, one of the group's representative repertoire operas, was selected for the Art Management Support Center's performing arts regional distribution project in 2025 in recognition of its workability through a re-performance at the Arco Arts Theater Grand Theater in 2024, and will be on the stage of CJ Towol Theater at the Seoul Arts Center as a performing arts creation entity by the Korea Culture and Arts Commission in 2026.
