The Seoul International Music Competition (SIMC), founded in 2007 by The Dong-A Ilbo and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, is one of the leading international music competitions in Asia, dedicated to discovering and nurturing outstanding young musicians from around the world.
Originating from the Dong-A International Music Competition held in 1996 and 1997, the SIMC was revived a decade later under the name of Seoul, in keeping with the global tradition of naming major competitions after their host cities. The competition is held annually in three categories – Piano, Violin, and Voice – on a rotating basis.
Recognized for its fairness, professionalism, and artistic excellence, the SIMC is a proud member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC). Each year, an esteemed panel of internationally renowned artists and professors serves as jury members.
The competition, which has drawn wide attention from both the domestic and international music communities every year, offers its winners not only world-class prizes — including USD 50,000 for the First Prize — but also valuable opportunities for orchestral engagements, recital invitations, and various concert appearances.
서울국제음악콩쿠르는 2007년 동아일보사와 서울특별시가 공동으로 창설한 국제음악경연대회로, 세계 유수의 젊은 음악가들이 한자리에 모여 기량을 겨루는 대한민국을 대표하는 국제음악콩쿠르입니다.
1996년과 1997년 두 차례 개최된 ‘동아국제음악콩쿠르’를 모태로, 10년 만인 2007년 ‘서울국제음악콩쿠르’로 부활하였으며, 세계 주요 도시 이름을 딴 국제콩쿠르의 전통에 따라 서울의 이름을 내걸고 매년 피아노, 바이올린, 성악 세 부문을 번갈아 개최하고 있습니다. 심사의 공정성과 수준 높은 운영으로 국제음악콩쿠르세계연맹(WFIMC)에 가입되어 있으며, 세계 각국의 권위 있는 연주자와 교수들이 심사위원으로 참여합니다. 이를 통해 서울국제음악콩쿠르는 국제무대 진출을 꿈꾸는 젊은 음악가들에게 세계로 나아가는 첫 무대로 자리매김하였습니다.
매해 국내외 음악계의 폭넓은 관심 속에 진행되고 있는 본 콩쿠르는 수상자들에게는 1위 5만 달러 등 세계 최고 수준의 상금 외에도 오케스트라 협연, 리사이틀 초청 등 다양한 연주 기회가 제공됩니다.

Concert Halla concert hall built as the first concert hall in Korea.
The Concert Hall is the first of its kind built exclusively for concerts in Korea. The horseshoe shaped hall with 2,505 seats and three stories is acclaimed for its ideal acoustics by numerous artists who have a performance here.
Remodeled and renovated in 2005,Concert Hall demonstrates its superb sound in every concert.

All performances, except for children-specific ones, are suitable for elementary school students and older. If proof of age cannot be provided, entry will not be permitted regardless of ticket possession or accompaniment by a guardian. (Excluding performances aimed at children.)
We encourage travel by public transport because you may not be able to enter the venue before the performance start time due to parking lot congestion.

※ Cancellation Fees for Exhibition Tickets:
- Tickets with Time Slots: Cancellation fees apply according to the same standards as for rental performances at the Seoul Arts Center
- General Exhibition Tickets: There is no cancellation fee until 7 days after ticket purchase, and a 10% cancellation fee is charged from the 8th day onwards.

Ticket Delivery

Note for receiving a ticket
- Customers who have benefited from discounts (e.g. discount coupons and membership discounts, special discounts for the disabled, national merits, SAC Teens, noble members, students, seniors and last-minute tickets) must be able to present proof of eligibility when collecting discounted tickets. If a customer fails to present such certification, he or she must pay for the full ticket price to enter the venue.
- The Box Office is very crowded when an event is about to begin. We strongly recommend collecting your ticket at least 30 minutes before the performance starts.
