JI EUN RYU × WEEA Collaborative Exhibition
"They may appear by accident,
but eventually, it is you who draws them out."
In the exhibition Accidentally, but Eventually,
artist Ji Eun Ryu collaborates with the interactive media art group WEEA
to visualize a world of desires hidden deep within the unconscious.
Ji Eun Ryu has long explored the realm of unconscious desires and suppressed
impulses through a range of artistic media. As social beings, the desires we
express externally are only the tip of the iceberg—most remain buried beneath
the surface of consciousness. The artist refers to these repressed forces as “them”
and constructs an imagined world in which they dwell.
In this exhibition, Ryu presents herself as a mediator—a presence navigating and
negotiating the boundary between reality and non-reality, between consciousness
and the unconscious. Within this space, continuously forming and colliding emotional
fragments give rise to “them,” and their landscape unfolds before us.
WEEA is an interactive media art group that designs sensory experiences based on
real-time biometric data, such as brainwaves and pulse signals. For this exhibition,
WEEA develops responsive interfaces that translate audience reactions into a dynamic
artistic experience. Through interaction, each viewer becomes a part of the work itself,
revealing new points of convergence between art and technology, sensation and perception.
The exhibition space is designed as an immersive environment that allows the audience
to step into “Their World.” Within it, repressed emotions and hidden desires are awakened,
inviting visitors to embark on a sensory journey toward encountering their own inner selves.

It is the first museum specializing in design in Korea registered in 1999.
Opened in 1999, the Hangaram Design Museum is the nation’s first museum specialized in design. About 1,282㎡(1 gallery 727㎡, 2 gallery 555㎡) in size, the main gallery on the first floor is a versatile space that can be transformed according to the exhibition taking place at the moment and, if needed, can be divided into two showrooms.

- Situated on the first level of the building, the information desk provides stroller rental service and wheelchair rental service

- The parking ticket payment machine is situated next to the Information Desk on the first level. There is a coin exchange machine nearby.
All performances, except for children-specific ones, are suitable for elementary school students and older. If proof of age cannot be provided, entry will not be permitted regardless of ticket possession or accompaniment by a guardian. (Excluding performances aimed at children.)
We encourage travel by public transport because you may not be able to enter the venue before the performance start time due to parking lot congestion.

The maximum number of tickets allowed to be purchased per online order (pc, mobile) is 10. If you would like to purchase more than 10 tickets for a group, please call the Service Plaza (1668-1352)

- Tickets with Time Slots: Cancellation fees apply according to the same standards as for rental performances at the Seoul Arts Center
- General Exhibition Tickets: There is no cancellation fee until 7 days after ticket purchase, and a 10% cancellation fee is charged from the 8th day onwards.

Note for receiving a ticket
- Customers who have benefited from discounts (e.g. discount coupons and membership discounts, special discounts for the disabled, national merits, SAC Teens, noble members, students, seniors and last-minute tickets) must be able to present proof of eligibility when collecting discounted tickets. If a customer fails to present such certification, he or she must pay for the full ticket price to enter the venue.
- The Box Office is very crowded when an event is about to begin. We strongly recommend collecting your ticket at least 30 minutes before the performance starts.
