About the Conductor
Santtu-Matias Rouvali
The 2025/26 season continues
Santtu-Matias Rouvali’s tenures as Principal Conductor of Philharmonia
Orchestra and Honorary Conductor of Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, close to
his home in Finland.
Throughout the current and previous
seasons, he continues his relationships with top-level orchestras and soloists
across Europe, including Münchner Philharmoniker, Berliner Philharmoniker,
Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin,
Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Royal Concertgebouw
Orchestra. He also returns to North America for concerts with New York
Philharmonic and The Cleveland Orchestra. This season, he appears with The
Philadelphia Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic and Vienna
Symphony Orchestras.
Philharmonia Records’ first
release, a double CD album Santtu conducts Strauss, was released in
March 2023 following recent releases of Tchaikovsky’s
Swan Lake and Prokofiev’s Symphony
No.5. Mahler 2, the second album from Philharmonia Records, was released in
September 2023. Santtu conducts Stravinsky, released in March 2024, was
the third album from Philharmonia Records featuring The Firebird Suite and
Petrushka. Another prominent CD - Beethoven’s
Triple Concerto with Benjamin Grosvenor, Nicola Benedetti and Sheku
Kanneh-Mason - was released on Decca in May 2024.
About the Violinist
Clara-Jumi Kang
Born to Korean parents and raised
in Germany, Clara-Jumi Kang is internationally renowned for her musicality and
virtuosity. Throughout her career she has received many awards and accolades
including 1st prize at the Indianapolis International Violin Competition,
Sendai Violin Competition and the Seoul Violin Competition.
Recent and upcoming highlights
include festival appearances at the BBC Proms, the Hollywood Bowl alongside the
Los Angeles Philharmonic, and her debut at the Salzburg Festival. Later in the 2024/25
season, she made her debut with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia
alongside Music Director Daniel Harding, and returned to the Munich
Philharmonic and Rotterdam Philharmonic with Chief Conductor Lahav Shani to
critical acclaim. She also made her debut with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra
under Zubin Mehta in their major tour across China and Europe.
Clara-Jumi Kang has made two recordings for Decca: “Modern Solo”
featuring works including Schubert’s “Last Rose”, “Erlkönig” and Ysaÿe Sonatas,
and a Brahms/Schumann album with Yeol-Eum Son. Her cycle of Beethoven Violin
Sonatas with pianist Sunwook Kim was released on Accentus last season to
outstanding reviews and nominations. A devoted chamber musician, she regularly
visits chamber music festivals and collaborates with renowned musicians
including Janine Jansen, Gidon Kremer and Mischa Maisky.
Clara-Jumi Kang plays on the
"Thunis" Stradivarius from 1702, on generous loan by KIA.
About the Orchestra
Philharmonia Orchestra
Founded in 1945, the Philharmonia Orchestra is one of the world’s
great orchestras.
Finnish conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali took up the baton as
Principal Conductor in 2021, and Marin Alsop joined him as Principal Guest
Conductor in 2023. They follow in illustrious footsteps: Herbert von Karajan,
Otto Klemperer, Ricardo Muti, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Christoph von Dohnányi,
Vladimir Ashkenazy and Esa-Pekka Salonen are some of the key figures who have
honed the renowned Philharmonia sound over eight decades.
The Philharmonia tours
extensively throughout Europe and has performed in China, Colombia, Japan,
Mauritius and the United States. In October 2025 the Orchestra embarks on a
major US tour, culminating in two performances at Carnegie Hall. The season
also includes a tour of Korea, and performances at the Concertgebouw in
Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, and many other leading European venues.
The Philharmonia Records label
was established in 2023. The Orchestra has released live recordings of major
works by Strauss, Mahler, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich, with Santtu at the
helm.

The Concert Hall is the first of its kind built exclusively for concerts in Korea. The horseshoe shaped hall with 2,505 seats and three stories is acclaimed for its ideal acoustics by numerous artists who have a performance here.
Remodeled and renovated in 2005,Concert Hall demonstrates its superb sound in every concert.
