Spohr Clarinet Concertos Jaehee Choi Clarinet Recital
Jaehee Choi is Associate Professor of Clarinet at Dankook University in South Korea. Renown for her impeccable technique and pure tone, Ms. Choi is an active soloist and chamber musician performing internationally, including performances at Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall(Tokyo, Japan) and Mendelssohn Haus (Leipzig, Germany). She is also currently the leader of Ensemble New Fine Arts, founded in Korea.
Clarinetist Jaehee Choi has previously won 3rd place in the ICA Clarinet Competition, 1st place and special prize in the Busan Competition, 1st place in the Seoul National University Competition, 2nd place in the Dong-A Competition, and 2nd place in the Ewha Kyunghyang Competition etc. She has performed as a soloist with the NFA Chamber Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National University Orchestra, and Seoul Symphony Orchestra. She was also selected as the youngest associate principal clarinetist of the Korean Symphony Orchestra through the years 2006-2008. Ms. Choi has played as Guest Principal with many major Orchestras in Korea such as KBS Symphony Orchestra, Korean Chamber Orchestra, Hankyung Philharmonic Orchestra and Seocho Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jaehee Choi, who was a Guest Professor at Sookmyung Women's University and faculty member at Chugye University, Jangshin University, Seoul Arts High School and Yewon school, is currently working to educate and inspire students as a Professor at Dankook University's College of Music and Arts.
Ms. Choi started playing Clarinet at the age of 10, and after attending Yewon Middle School and Seoul Arts High School, she graduated from Seoul National University for her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Jaehee Choi then continued her musical studies in the United States, earning an Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music.
