Cellist So Young Jeon
Known as a performer with a rich and deep tone, splendid technique and delicate sense of melody, cellist Jeon So-yeong graduated from Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School (received the Yeonho Arts Award) and Seoul National University College of Music as a full-time student for 4 years as a senior, and was nominated for a trip to the US. He received a master's degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Stone as a Piatigorsky Scholar, and a Ph.D. from Boston University as a Director's Awards.
Early on, following the Ewha-Kyunghyang Competition and the Yewon Competition, she won first prize at the Seoul National University of Education Competition, the gold prize at the Seoul Arts High School Chamber Music Competition, and the first prize at the Dong-A Competition, receiving great attention from the music world., and performed with the Seoul National University Music Orchestra.
She has already been recognized for his talent by performing in Hong Kong by the Jeunesse Chamber Ensemble, touring Europe as a member of the World Orchestra, and appearing in a rookie concert hosted by the Chosun Ilbo. In addition, he was selected as a soloist at the Coloardo Philharmonic National Repertory Orchestra Festival, won the International String Competition, and performed with the Massachusetts Five Collage Orchestra, receiving acclaim and praise from American critics. He served as a performance assistant at the University of Massachusetts and as a cellist of the Onyx String Quartet, actively performing solo and chamber music in Boston and Southwestern Massachusetts, and was invited to the Boston University Honors Concert and Musicorda Chamber Festival for two years and gave several concerts.
After returning to Korea, he held dozens of recitals at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Seoul Arts Center, Seoul Philharmonic, Gangneung Philharmonic, Daejeon Philharmonic, Suwon Philharmonic, Pohang Philharmonic, Guri Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra, Ukraine Sebastopol Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Symphony, Seoul He has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Sinfonietta, Ulsan Namgu Sinfonietta, Prokofiev Philharmonic, Chernivtsi Philharmonic, Bukouinian Philharmonic, Koreanish Flute Orchestra, Seoul Pops Orchestra, APEC Philharmonic and many other leading orchestras at home and abroad. Charity Concert for Boys and Girls Heads, Nanpa Music Festival, Seoul Music Festival, 2002 Best Classical, Ewon Cultural Center, German Cultural Center, Gunsan Citizens Day Concert, Seoul Arts Center Chamber Music Festival, Kwon Tae-ho Music Hall, etc. Invitational concert for harmony with North Korean refugees, Ukraine He has been invited to dozens of concerts, including a concert for peace and a concert commemorating the 60th anniversary of Korean-Brazilian immigration. In particular, he has been highly praised for his in-depth and detailed musical interpretation and lively performance at the 2019 Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) invited recital and Professor Gala Concert. As a visiting professor, he conducted a master class for local students in Vietnam. He also served as Seoul Sinfonietta chief runner and cellist Damour runner, and served as lecturer at Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, Hanyang University, Kyunghee University, Gachon University, Konkuk University, Ulsan University, Kyungpook National University, and adjunct professor at Sejong University and Kookmin University.
She is currently teaching at Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, and as a music director for the Nomos Trio, NEC Cello Ensemble, and a principal member of the Ensemble Ariati, she is communicating with the audience by showing off her own musicality and performance through various chamber music activities.
