TAE HYUNG KIM (Pf.)Known as one of the Korea’s young prominent pianists with an innate sense of balance and logical interpretation, pianist Tae Hyung Kim has championed numerous prestigious competitions including the Hamamatsu in 2006 and Long-Thibaud in 2007; Interlaken Classics International Competition in Bern, Concours International de Musique du Maroc and Concours Grand Prix Animato in 2008. Also, he took fifth place at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium in 2010, and went to win both the first prize and audience prize at Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition in 2013.

Kim has expanded his scope of activities by performing with prominent international orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de France and National Orchestra of Belgium. He has performed with such renowned conductors as Vladimir Spivakov, Marin Alsop, Emil Tabakov, and Hugh Wolff, among many others.

In 2013, he formed ‘Trio Gaon’, with violinist Jehye Lee and cellist Hendrik Blumenroth (current cellist is Samuel Lutzker) during his chamber music course at München Hochschule für Musik und Theater with Professor Christoph Poppen and Friedemann Berger. In 2018, Trio Gaon received the 2nd prize with Audience Prize and Trio Commission Prize from the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.

Born in Seoul, Tae-Hyung Kim graduated summa cum laude from Seoul Arts High School and studied with Professor Choong-Mo Kang at Korean National University of Arts.  Upon graduation, he moved to Germany to complete Meisterklasse (Konzertexamen) in piano performance under guidance of Professor Elisso Virsaladze and Meisterklasse (Konzertexamen) in Liedgestaltung with Helmut Deutsch at München Hochschule für Musik und Theater.  He subsequently trained at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I.Tchaikovsky under Elisso Virsaladze.  He was supported from DAEWON Cultural Foundation from 2008 through 2014.
He is generally represented by Presto Artists and Entertainment in association with Weinstadt Artists Management for the Benelux/France and SMOLART Concert Agency for the Russia/CIS. And since September 2018, he is appointed professor at the Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea.

All performances, except for children-specific ones, are suitable for elementary school students and older. If proof of age cannot be provided, entry will not be permitted regardless of ticket possession or accompaniment by a guardian. (Excluding performances aimed at children.)
