The Exhibition of Oh Sei-chang (1996.3.12 - 4.7)

The 200 pieces of masterpieces of Oh Sei-chang and his father Oh Kyong-suk were displayed. In this exhibition we could see how the art was affected by the turbulent political situations from late Chosun Dynasty to the Korean War.

Thanks to his father, an official Chinese translator, Oh Sei-chang could see far earlier than anyone the advanced Chinese civilization, through which he became the pioneer in seal engraving and Jeonseo or the writings of sealing style. He also made remarkable achievements in the study and arrangement of Korean art history. Kwenyuk-suwha-jing or the Collection of Korean Drawings and Calligraphical works and Kwenmuk or the Korean Calligraphy were exhibited with about 20 various printed seals.
