Joshua Bell &
Academy of St. Martin in the Fields

Joshua Bell, one of the most famous violin players, visits Korea for the concert with Acadmey of St. Martin in the Field (ASMF), a prestigious ensemble from England. Joshua Bell, the only music director after conductor and founder of the ensemble Neville Marriner, has been leading ASMF since 2011. They returns to Korea 8 years after their performance in 2010, but it is the first time to have a concert in Korea since he was selected as Music Director of the celebrated ensemble by the musicians in 2011.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, ASMF recently extended contract with Joshua Bell through 2020. The fact implies that Joshua Bell and the ensemble have been bringing together an amazing synergy. For the upcoming Asia tour, they play works by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Barber and Piazzolla. The program has aroused audience to enthusiasm in the Bravo! Vail Festival in 2016.

The 1st piece of the concert, Bach¡¯s Violin Concerto in a minor, BWV 1041 is the work included in their 2nd recording album called <Bach> which was selected as a This Year¡¯s Album by Classic FM. The Observer and the Independent has released to rave reviews for the two violin concertos by Bach among pieces from the album by respectively saying ¡°¡¦ crisp and exciting readings of the violin Concertos Nos 1 and 2, with Bell and the players in perfect accord¡± and ¡°It¡¯s been worth the wait: backed by his Academy of St Martin in the Fields chamber orchestra, [Bell] offers outstanding versions of the two violin concertos¡±.

Also, Piazzolla¡¯s Las Las cuatro estaciones Portenas (Four Seasons of Buenos Aires) for the second half of the concert should be paid attentions. They have been presenting Piazzolla¡¯s Four Seasons since 2015, and showing great attraction which is surely different from Gidon Kremer¡¯s version.
